The goal of this film is to show the vehicle as an enabler to overcome the great fear of the unknown and to feel connected to the world around us by exploring it.
​
The powerful images of movement, light and intimacy are further intensified through the poem - This artistic approach was chosen to present a more subtle alternative to the recurring themes of masculinity, independence and achievement in car commercials.
Oration - Jumoke Adeyanju
Through the use of natural atmospheres and custom tailored ambient music, the sound layer takes away the artificiality of the animated look, opening the gate of it being a dream of some kind. A place that does not exist, but does - perhaps within your mind, or rather in the heart?

To enter the contest, the participants had to compose and upload an original soundtrack for Gregory Crewdson's picture "Untitled". The soundtrack had to be 30 seconds long, otherwise there were no limitations.

Soundengineer Jake Jackson: "I chose 'Thunder' as my winning track as I liked that so much was squeezed into 30 seconds, the opening melody, then a second section different but engaging and powerful. And excellent use of the thunder as part of the music, really. Congratulations on an excellent job.“
CONTEST WINNER
"A DAY ON SOLID GROUND" is a short film produced during the corona pandemic by independent filmmakers.

The sound is entirely recorded on location. Its goal is to create a level of intimacy and vulnerability with the characters. It does so by following a very realistic and rather "normal" approach - in a time where the normal was very much in question.

The movement in the video very much reflects the sound design and music, merging the 3 layers. The musical basis is reminiscent of early Hip Hop, with scratches and the rather ruff types of production techniques that shaped this era's vibe.
​
The London cockney accent of the orator delivers much more than just the words, underlining the key direction of the film yet again - "It's about style".
